How To Keep ECORE Flooring Clean

We have been partnered with ECORE Athletic since 2009 to sell and install their flooring. Over the last 15 years we have learned a lot about flooring products, layout, installation and maintenance. Pictured above at Springboro HS is an inlaid custom logo platform, the lifting area is using the ECORE Steel Appeal color-way. If you do not use E-Cleaner, the nice gray material and white logo will begin to fade/become dirty. BUT do not fear with proper maintenance such as shown in the video below, this can be avoided!

Best Ways to Keep Floor Clean Without Cleaning It

The best way to keep something clean is to not let it get dirty, this may seem like common sense but many people do not follow the recommended precautions below and create much more work for themselves than is needed.

  • Do not allow dirty or “outside shoes”
  • Do not allow people to walk through the room if they are not training, especially platforms
  • Add a floor mat or grip mat to help remove dirt from shoes
  • Keep the hallway outside the weight room clean
  • Do not allow non training to take place in this area

What Cleaner To Use

ECORE E-Cleaner is a concentrate cleaner that is added to water, depending on the level of cleaning you are performing you use different amounts of water, which are explained below.

Light & routine cleaning 1:64 or 2oz per gallon

Moderate soil removal 1:32 or 4oz/gallon

 Heavy-duty cleaning 1:12 or 10oz per gal.

Coverage will vary depending on the flooring material being cleaned, amount of dirt on the floor, and dilution rate; on average, 1-gallon of E-Clean will cover 2000 – 6000 square feet. Routine cleaning is best with a two-bucket mopping system or auto scrubber and an appropriate pad or brush as indicated in your specific Ecore flooring technical manual. For moderately dirty floors, agitate cleaning solution with a buffer, auto scrubber or microfiber mop then pick up dirty solution with a wet-vac.

Rinsing or trail mopping the floor may be required to completely clean the floor. For heavily soiled floors, allow diluted floor cleaner to dwell for 5 to 10 minutes before agitating with a buffer, auto scrub machine or mop. Lift dirty cleaning solution with a wet vac then thoroughly rinse floor until all dirty cleaning solution is removed.

Pictured above at Franklin High School is a custom inlaid agility ladder down the center of their platforms. This white ladder will begin to fade if it is not cleaned a few times a year at minimum.

Video of Cleaning Process

In the video above, ECORE demonstrates how to efficiently clean heavily soiled floors using an auto scrubber. While this machine isn’t essential, it significantly speeds up the process and makes the job easier. For light to moderate cleaning, however, a simple mop will do the trick—no need for the auto scrubber!

Conclusion

Floors are bound to get dirty—it’s inevitable. However, it’s the facility management team’s responsibility to minimize dirt and maintain cleanliness. We strongly recommend taking proactive measures to keep dirt out, reducing the need for frequent cleaning.
