Bald Eagle High School

Bald Eagle had outgrown its old weight room.

The previous space was closer to a classroom than a true sports performance facility. It could not comfortably support the number of athletes and students who needed to use it, and once the room filled up, safety became a real concern.

The school was also working with outdated and obsolete equipment that limited how coaches could train athletes. The room lacked enough stations, storage was limited, and the layout did not support efficient movement or supervision.

The project was driven by school investment, safety concerns, and the need to create a larger, more capable training environment for both athletics and PE classes.

Bald Eagle wanted the new space to do more than replace old equipment.

The project needed to:

• Create a sports performance center that could serve every athletic program
  
• Support multiple groups and classes within the same facility
  
• Improve safety, supervision, and athlete flow
  
• Give coaches more training options without filling the room with machines
  
• Build a space the school and community could take pride in
  

The broader goal was to create one facility that could handle the daily demands of football, other athletic teams, and PE weight training classes without forcing each group into a compromised setup.

Stray Dog designed the facility around training versatility and coaching efficiency.

The core layout uses two spines of Alpha Double Half Racks, with platforms positioned back-to-back. That arrangement gives coaches clear sightlines across the major compound lifts and keeps the primary training stations organized around a repeatable flow.

The design also reduced the need for standalone machines by integrating more training options directly into the rack system.

The final equipment plan included:

• 12 Alpha Double Half Rack stations
• 12 platforms
• Alpha benches
• Cable column inserts
• Lat pulldown inserts
• Belt squat inserts
• GOAT Attachment dedicated uprights
• Dual storage hooks
• Dumbbell storage
• Cubby storage
• Flat trays for trophy storage
• Flat shelving at the racks for medicine ball storage
  

That combination gave the coaching staff more ways to train within the same footprint while keeping equipment close to where it is used.

Storage was also treated as part of the room design. Dumbbells, medicine balls, trophies, and accessories all had defined places, which helped reduce clutter and keep walkways open.

Custom school colors, logos, decals, and branding panels were incorporated throughout the facility.

Stray Dog also used 3D stills and a video walkthrough to help Bald Eagle review the layout before the project moved forward.

Stray Dog handled the project as a Gold Installation turnkey package.

The school had already invested heavily in transforming the former forestry building into a dedicated sports performance center, including new windows, drywall, HVAC, drop ceilings, and bathrooms.

Stray Dog then coordinated the equipment delivery and installation so the rack systems, platforms, storage, attachments, and branded components matched the approved facility plan.

The result was a complete conversion from an outdated training setup into a purpose-built sports performance environment.

Bald Eagle now has a facility that can support the entire athletic department and PE program.

The room can accommodate 50 athletes comfortably during regular training, with 100+ users possible when the rack stations and turf areas are fully utilized.

The new layout also gives the school more scheduling flexibility. Multiple athletic teams can move through the facility within a few hours after school, while PE classes can use the same space during the day.
