STANDALONE MACHINES WASTE SPACE. THE ATR DOESN'T.

By integrating cable machines into rack posts, one ATR unit functions as a lifting station when the cable isn't in use — and as a cable machine, lat pulldown, or functional trainer when it is. Three functions. One footprint.

    • SIDES

The functional core of the ATR. Each side includes the cable machine, lat pulldown, or belt squat mechanism. Connect two sides to create your training station.

      - Adjustable cable column
      - Belt squat / lat pull down combo
      - Lat pull down / low row
      - Frame (non-machine side)

    • CONNECTORS

Crossmembers that determine the width between your ATR sides — and therefore how the unit functions. Width selection is the key design decision.

      - 20" crossmember
      - 30" crossmember
      - 43" crossmember — lifting station
      - 72" crossmember — independent machines

    • STORAGE

Integrated storage pieces turn your ATR into a complete training station. One unit covers lifting, cable, and storage — zero wasted floor space.

      - Dumbbell trays
      - Flat storage trays
      - Foam roller storage
      - Straight chin-up bar

THE ATR WAS DEVELOPED THROUGH 26 YEARS OF LISTENING TO COACHES

We designed the ATR because coaches kept telling us the same thing: they needed cable training but couldn't afford to lose the floor space. Standalone machines were taking up 150–200 square feet and sitting idle most of the day. The space problem was real. The solution didn't exist. So we built it.

    Frequently asked questions

    WHAT DOES ATR STAND FOR?

ATR stands for Auxiliary Training Rack. It is a modular rack system designed to replace standalone cable machines and functional trainers in athletic weight rooms, combining lifting station, cable machine, and storage functions in the same floor footprint.

HOW IS AN ATR DIFFERENT FROM A STANDALONE CABLE MACHINE?

A standalone cable machine takes 150–200 sq ft of floor space and does one thing. An ATR uses the same footprint as a rack and provides three functions— barbell lifting station, cable machine, and integrated storage — in the same unit. In most athletic weight rooms, cable machines are also the least-used equipment per square foot. The ATR solves this by making cable machines dual-purpose: they become lifting stations when the cable isn't in use.

WHAT ARE THE THREE ATR COMPONENTS?

ATR units are built from three component types: Sides (the cable machine or lat pulldown mechanisms — cable column, belt squat/lat pulldown combo, lat pulldown/low row), Connectors (crossmembers in 20", 30", 43", and 72" widths that determine the station configuration), and Storage (dumbbell trays, flat storage trays, foam roller storage, chin-up bars). Combine them in any configuration to build what your program needs.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CONNECTING ATR SIDES AT 43" VS 72"?

Connecting at 43"creates a barbell lifting station with cable machines integrated into the posts — athletes use it as a rack for barbell work and as a cable machine for accessory work. Connecting at 72"creates a wider unit for independent functional trainer, side-by-side lat pulldown stations, or a storage configuration. The width you choose determines how the ATR functions in your facility.

CAN ATR UNITS CONNECT TO ALPHA RACKS?

Yes. ATR sides mount directly off an Alpha rack, extending your lifting station into an integrated cable and storage system without adding floor footprint.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A PRE-CONFIGURED ATR AND A CUSTOM BUILD?

Pre-Configured ATR #1–4 are ready-to-go setups designed for specific use cases: complete home gym (#1), expandable personal training setup (#2), high-density no-waste facility unit (#3), and maximum-capacity facility unit (#4). A custom build lets you select individual sides, connectors, and storage pieces to create exactly what your program needs. Both are fully modular and expandable after purchase.

WHAT WARRANTY COMES WITH STRAY DOG RACKS?

Lifetime warranty on all welds and frames. Wear items like upholstery and cables are replaceable through our maintenance program.
