Kearsley High School

Kearsley High School needed a more capable training space to match the school’s investment in a new fieldhouse.

The previous setup relied on outdated equipment and too few training stations, which limited how many athletes could train at one time. As the athletic program grew, the school needed a facility with more capacity, better traffic flow, and equipment that could support athletes across all sports.

The project was part of a broader school investment in upgraded athletic facilities and gave Kearsley the chance to build a new strength space from the ground up.

Kearsley focused on three priorities:

• Add more usable training stations
• Improve traffic flow through the room
• Increase the overall carrying capacity of the facility

The new space also needed to stay organized, support clear coaching sightlines, and give athletes enough room to move efficiently between stations.

Stray Dog worked with Kearsley’s coaches and administration to plan the facility around the school’s budget, timeline, equipment needs, and desired layout.

The 2,800-square-foot footprint required a compact, efficient design. Stray Dog used a mix of Alpha Half Racks and Alpha Double Half Racks to create 12 total rack stations without overcrowding the room.

The final equipment plan included:

• 4 Alpha Half Racks
• 4 Alpha Double Half Racks
• 12 total rack stations
• 15 benches
• 12 platforms
• Dumbbell storage

The combination of Half Racks and Double Half Racks gave the room more training positions while preserving space for movement between stations.

A 3D facility design was used during the planning process so Kearsley’s staff could review the layout, equipment placement, and room flow before installation.

Stray Dog handled delivery and installation for the Kearsley project.

Once the facility plan was approved, the team installed the rack systems, benches, platforms, and storage components according to the final design.

Because the project was part of a new fieldhouse build, the installation could follow the planned layout from the start rather than work around older equipment or an inherited room configuration.

Kearsley finished the project with a more efficient, higher-capacity strength facility built to support athletes across the school.

The new facility provides:
