Warsaw High School

Warsaw High School needed more training capacity inside the space it already had.

The existing 5,000-square-foot weight room had outdated equipment and too few training stations for the number of athletes using the facility. As the program grew, coaches needed a layout that could support more athletes at once without making the room harder to move through or supervise.

The project was driven by program growth and additional school investment. The goal was to improve the room as a whole, not just replace old equipment.

Warsaw focused on three priorities:

• Add more usable training stations
  
• Improve athlete traffic flow
  
• Increase the number of athletes the facility could support at one time

The new layout also needed to improve storage and keep clear sightlines for coaches working with larger groups.

Stray Dog worked with Warsaw’s coaching staff and administration to plan the project around the school’s budget, timeline, equipment needs, and available space.

The 114' x 44' room called for a layout that could add capacity without crowding the floor. Stray Dog used a mix of Alpha Half Racks and Alpha Double Half Racks to create 24 training stations while preserving clear pathways through the facility.

The final equipment plan included:

• 24 rack stations
  
• 24 benches
  
• 24 platforms
  
• PowerBlock storage trays

Using both Half Racks and Double Half Racks gave the design team more flexibility within the footprint. The layout increased the number of usable stations while leaving room for athletes and coaches to move through the space.

Dedicated storage also helped keep dumbbells and other equipment out of walkways and away from primary training areas.

A 3D facility design was used before installation so Warsaw’s staff could review the layout, station placement, and overall room flow before the project moved forward.

The team installed the Alpha rack systems, benches, platforms, and storage components according to the approved facility design.

Because the project was built inside an existing 5,000-square-foot room, placement mattered. The final install followed the planned spacing and traffic flow so the added stations did not come at the expense of usable floor space.

Warsaw finished the project with a higher-capacity strength facility that makes better use of the same footprint.
