West Noble High School

West Noble High School needed a safer, larger, and more functional training space.

The previous weight room was located on the second floor, and the floor itself was beginning to fail. On top of that, the room was limited by outdated equipment and too few training stations for the number of athletes using the space.

Program growth and school investment created the opportunity to start over with a new facility designed around capacity, better movement through the room, and the long-term needs of the athletic department.

West Noble focused on three priorities:

• Add more usable training stations
  
• Improve traffic flow through the room
  
• Increase the total carrying capacity of the facility
  

The new space also needed to give coaches better visibility across the room and create a cleaner, more organized environment for athletes and students.

Stray Dog worked with West Noble’s coaches and administration to plan the project around the school’s budget, timeline, equipment needs, and preferred layout.

Because this was new construction, the design team had the flexibility to build the room around how the program wanted to train instead of adapting to the limitations of the old space.

The final layout centered on 12 Alpha Half Racks, supported by 12 benches and 14 platforms.

The equipment plan included:

• Dumbbell storage
  

The Half Rack configuration created a clear, repeatable training layout while preserving enough open space for movement between stations. Dedicated dumbbell storage helped keep the room organized and reduce clutter around the primary training areas.

A 3D facility design was used before installation so West Noble’s staff could review the layout, equipment placement, and room flow before the project moved forward.

Once the facility plan was approved, the team installed the Alpha Half Racks, benches, platforms, and storage systems according to the final design.

The move into a new ground-level facility also solved one of the biggest issues with the previous room: the school no longer had to operate a high-use strength space on a second floor with structural concerns.

West Noble finished the project with a safer, higher-capacity training environment built to support athletes across the school.

The new facility provides:

• Better athlete flow
• Improved equipment storage
• Cleaner coaching sightlines
• Greater overall training capacity
• A more appropriate space for long-term daily use
